If you’re thinking about going on a vacation with your family, one of the things that you’re going to have to pay for is the airfare. When gas prices went sky high, a plane ticket could really cost a lot. However, with the price of oil dropping, we can see that hopefully plane tickets will drop with that. But, even before it does, that doesn’t mean that you can’t find a way to get discount airfare.
The trick to finding cheap airfare is to wait for airfare that is getting closer and closer to the take off date. Assume it’s two days before you’re flying. Chances are, the ticket will be cheaper than if you bought it a month ago or two months ago. They want to get the business from you because an empty chair is lost profits. They would rather sell a ticket for half off than not sell the ticket at all.
There are risks of course to this gamble. If you try and wait too long to get the cheapest airfare, you might be stuck without a single flight. But, if you’re an independent flier and don’t NEED to leave on a specific day, consider this method.
